The annual CycleEastLake and Run fundraiser was rescheduled this year to May 13.
“It’s our 19th year year doing the Cycle EastLake and Run which involves a half marathon, a 10K and 5K run and families doing a stroll,” said Christopher Tobin, educational director of the EastLake Educational Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting EastLake public schools.
There also is an 18-mile mountain bike that will benefit the foundation.
“For kids, this is the only one of our events they can actually participate in,” Tobin said, adding the annual cycling event typically raises about $40,000.
Over the years, EEF has raised money for EastLake Elementary, Olympic View Elementary, Salt Creek Elementary, Arroyo Vista Charter School, EastLake Middle and EastLake High.
Nearly 900 cyclists and runners from all over Southern California are expected to participate in the event. Check in begins at 6:30 a.m., with the first ride starting at 7:30 a.m. The cost for adults starts at $45, $35 for youth.
