Fall into Sweater Weather

With hot summer temperatures behind and pumpkins appearing daily on our doorsteps, we are welcoming fall with open arms. Not only does the flavorful season bring cooler temperatures — for the most part — but also bulkier sweaters, higher boots and fashionable scarves. It’s that time of year when you can’t go wrong with layering and still being completely on trend. And the best part — cold or hot, it’s always sweater weather!

Whether gearing up for a cool night on the boardwalk or a warmer afternoon around town, below are a few of my favorite fall looks for any occasion.

• UGGs — why not? While everyone loves to hate on UGGs, they’re still in and always will be. Be it the high boots, low boots, moccasins or slippers, UGGs are beyond comfortable and everyone can’t wait to throw on a pair come fall. I love wearing the mid-length UGGs with a pair of leggings,
a long sleeve shirt and vest — comfortable yet sophisticated enough to rock during a night at the movies with my husband or wine with the girls!

• Bundle up. After all, sweater weather and fall are interchangeable, aren’t they? For the most comfortable, stylish and easy fall look, throw on a sweater with some skinny jeans or leggings and cute boots. Switch up the outfit by adding a colorful scarf and alternating between booties and riding boots.

• Sleeveless. For those warmer days when you want to keep the fall look but not be too hot, grab a sleeveless turtleneck, accent necklace, and a blazer. I love this look for everyday wear but especially for the
office — the temperature is always changing throughout the day in our town and this look allows for layering, keeping you looking perfect no matter what the temperature!

• Dress up. Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing dresses. Completely transform the look of what was once your “summer dress” into a fall classic by adding a scarf, long sweater and pair of riding boots. For some added fall flavor, try a pair of lace tights — they are fashionable yet thin enough that you won’t overheat when the temperature
rises slightly.

Even though fall weather in East Chula Vista may not be as cold as the East Coast, that doesn’t mean we can’t look the part. So, embrace the season with new additions to your wardrobe. And the best part, there are plenty of boutiques and clothing stores around town to get your staple fall accessories to complete the look.
