This month many of us are celebrating one of the most popular days of the year — Valentine’s Day. And whether you plan to have an extravagant night with that special someone, go out with friends or cuddle up at home with a pint of ice cream, you can celebrate the month (and feel the love) through your wardrobe.
If you are already a fan of the colors below, fantastic. I say, the more the merrier this month. But if you haven’t experimented with pinks and reds in the past, now would be the time to do it! I’ve pulled together some ideas below on how to incorporate Valentine’s Day colors (not just red and pink) into your outfits for the month of February.
• Pretty in pink. Pink is the universal color of love. Be it a statement piece or flowers on your scarf, wear pink with pride the entire month.
Tip: Pink is not just for ladies! Men can easily add pink to their wardrobe with ties, bowties, soft pink shirts or fun argyle socks.
• Seeing red. Red is classic and powerful. Enhance your February by adding sparks of red to your outfit. And for those days you are feeling extra confident, bring out that red dress from the back of your closest. Tip: Red can be overwhelming if you’re not in the mood for it. Add hints of the color by wearing red jewelry, nail polish or even undergarments.
• Purple heart. Purple is the color of royalty and what’s better than feeling like a king or queen on Valentine’s Day? At first thought, purple may sound intimidating, but like pink, there are soft shades of purple that can be easily added to your wardrobe.
Tip: Be bold and wear purple lipstick, recently made popular by Kylie Jenner. Or tone it down by wearing a cute blouse with purple accents.
• Mellow yellow. Yellow probably isn’t the first color that comes to mind when thinking of love. However, it represents friendship and some of the best love stories were started between friends.
Tip: Yellow can be a tricky color, but don’t be scared — go for it!
Accessories are always fun.
Try adding a yellow wallet, purse or scarf to your wardrobe.
If you’re like me and can never get enough love, add some of the above colors and pieces to your wardrobe this month to get in the intimate spirit. Here’s to a love-filled (and fashionable) February!
