Rick Moorten

Many in our community may recognize Rick Moorten’s voice.  Many may wake up to his voice every morning. Moorten is the morning show host on San Diego’s Jammin Z90.  Working on radio has been his dream since he was a young boy, and he has been living his dream for the past 22 years. Moorten loves the ever-changing, challenges and rewards of the radio business.  He is a natural at connecting with people through the airwaves or at local community events.  These moments are his sweet spots.
Although Moorten has only lived in Eastlake Greens for a year, his fiancée Vanessa Balli grew up in Chula Vista and has family that continues to live in the community.
“Vanessa has a huge family that all resides here and we love to do everything with family. We wanted a location that had everything close but also was tucked away from the hustle of the big city and had a strong independent sense of community. Chula Vista is where she went to school and it has everything you want from dining, shopping, lifestyle and a great opportunity to spend time outdoors and connect with the local community.”
Moorten loves living in Chula Vista and sees this community as his forever home.  So much so, that he is on a personal quest to become the first Mr. Chula Vista — should they create such a contest.  He has quickly jumped in to help local nonprofits like the South Bay Family YMCA and the Chula Vista Charitable Foundation.  And if you speak to Moorten, his smiling eyes are evidence of his love of life and passion for people.
“It’s been so true that real success comes when you spend your energy communicating to others that they really matter and count. It’s all anyone wants.”
