As rainy days start to fade away, it’s time say goodbye to winter grays (and items you haven’t worn in years) and bring out the brighter side of your wardrobe. Whether buying new storage bins or throwing away over-worn items, now is the perfect time for a spring clean. And, to get the job done right, having a plan is key.
To help transition you to the days of spring (and summer), below are my tips for freshening up and decluttering your wardrobe.
Organize — Now is the perfect time to give your closet a makeover. Organize your clothes by separating shirts from dresses, pants, etc. If you have room, hang up your pants. This will add space for new items you will actually wear. Tip: Head to the store and pick up some bins to store winter clothes for next year.
Declutter — Simplify your wardrobe. Washing machines exist for a reason. You only need a couple of white tees, blue jeans, black yoga pants, etc. Tip: Don’t be afraid to let go of staples, there will always be more.
Donate — Go through your entire wardrobe and donate items that either don’t fit anymore or you haven’t worn in the past year. This is a win-win since you get to feel good by donating and decluttering. Tip: Stop at the nearest Goodwill and bring in your unused items. They accept other things, such as electronics, furniture, books and more!
Sell — Reward your deep cleaning efforts with cash! If you have clothes that are in good condition or still have the tags on, sell them! Tip: Thrift stores like Buffalo Exchange will give you cash for clothes. Don’t have time to drop them off? Go online and post an album on Facebook of all the stuff you are trying to sell.
Getting rid of clothes is always tricky, but the results are definitely worth it. Enjoy your spring clean (and sunnier days) this month!
